"In 1949 when communist take over the Chinese regime they scrap the old pattern of writing system which was having more number of strokes in one character which is very difficult to remember for common people, in order to facilitate the masses to read and write People`s Republic of China adopted a new system of Writing. The new government started a big push to increase literacy. The complex traditional writing was simplified, using fewer strokes for complex characters. Some characters were replaced altogether in order to motivate more people to learn how to write. The official language since then it is Mandarin or called Simplified Chinese. But the Chinese people who are either away from Mainland China or in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau etc are still using traditional Chinese in writing. In printing Malaysia and Singapore is using simplified Chinese. Now in the globalized world language experts are playing key role as translation industries are blooming. Knowing traditional Chinese certainly will be advantage for Chinese Language experts.
"Learn Traditional Chinese- 1" is a text book for the students who are interested or taken the elective course in learning traditional Chinese at the level of under graduation/ Post Graduation/ Advance Diploma in Chinese. The book's chapters are in simplified Chinese with pinyin and English translation as well. Hence its gives an easy understanding of traditional Chinese characters as both versions are available on next to next. The book is specially design for the student who is studying mandarin or Simplified Chinese as second language. Even a student can start learning traditional Chinese by him/her selves through this book. Chapters of this book are based on situational conversation therefore it also help student to get words for their day to day routine work. This book can be help full for the self learner of Mandarin/ Traditional Chinese language as its chapter content and descriptions are having pinyin with English translation. During the compilation of this book I have taken in consideration research on the acquisitions of the Chinese as second language, especially my own experience to teaching Chinese and many other Chinese language teachers working on the front line."

AUTHOR INFORMATION

Mr. Vikash Kumar has earned his M.A degree in Chinese language and literature from Center for Chinese and South East Asian Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. Prior to that, he had completes his B.A. degree with same University. He had also done advance studies in Chinese language from Beijing Language and Culture University, China in 2006–07.Mr. Kumar is a recipient of ministry of Human resource development, Government of India and China Government scholarship 2006–07. He had attended Beijing Language and Culture University, Beijing, China in 2006–07, where he had trained on Chinese language and culture. In the year 2014 he has authored a Book "Read and write Chinese" which is receiving good response. At present, he is the Head of the Department of foreign languages, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India and at the same place teaching Chinese language since June 2008 and also taught Chinese language in National Defence Academy (NDA). Pune, India in 2013.
